Core Challenge

Generic layout, lack of personality

Key Objective

Explore divergent lifestyles: Family vs. Entertainer

A standard three-bedroom apartment presents a familiar canvas, but a 'standard' home is rarely the perfect fit for a unique life. Our client came to Pichome Design with a fascinating challenge: they weren't sure what their future held. Should they optimize for a growing family, or create a sophisticated oasis for entertaining? We decided to show them both possibilities.

The Starting Point: A Generic Canvas

The original, uninspired three-bedroom floor plan.

The initial layout was functional but deeply uninspired. An enclosed kitchen isolated the host, the living room was modest, and the bedrooms were simple boxes. It was a space waiting for a story.

"Our goal was to demonstrate how architectural choices can fundamentally shape a lifestyle. It's not just about where you put the sofa; it's about what kind of life you want to live in the space."

Design Vision A: The Family Hub

A warm, connected, and practical environment for everyday family life.

Floor plan for the Family Hub, showing an expanded common area and open kitchen.

This vision prioritizes togetherness and functionality. We imagined a home bustling with activity, where parents could cook while children play, and the whole family could gather comfortably.

  • The 'Great Room' for Families: We absorbed the smallest bedroom into the living area, creating a sprawling, multifunctional space. This new 'great room' serves as a playroom, study, and media center, ensuring the family can spend quality time together in a shared environment.
  • The Interactive Kitchen: The kitchen wall was removed and replaced with a large island. This becomes the home's command center—a place for breakfast, homework, and casual conversations, keeping the cook connected to the family's pulse.
  • Pragmatic Storage: Recognizing that family life comes with clutter, we integrated extensive, full-height storage solutions into the design, ensuring that toys, books, and daily necessities have a designated place, keeping the main living areas serene and organized.

Design Vision B: The Entertainer's Dream

A chic, luxurious, and fluid space designed for hosting and socializing.

Floor plan for the Entertainer's Dream, featuring a grand open space and a luxury master suite.

This option caters to a lifestyle of social gatherings and sophisticated comfort. It transforms the apartment into a space that is as impressive as it is welcoming.

  • Expansive Social Stage: Here too, a bedroom is sacrificed, but for a different purpose: to create a truly grand open-plan living and dining area. The layout is anchored by a dramatic, oversized kitchen island that doubles as a cocktail bar, creating a natural focal point for parties.
  • The Master Retreat: The master bedroom is elevated to a new level of luxury. We reconfigured the space to include a generous walk-in closet and a spa-like en-suite bathroom, creating a private sanctuary for the homeowners to unwind.
  • A Flexible Guest Suite: The remaining bedroom is treated as a high-end guest suite or home office, featuring premium finishes that ensure visitors feel pampered or the homeowner feels inspired.
